Cruising through history
Messac is situated on the left bank of the Vilaine River. Separated from its closet neighbour, the bustling town of Guipry, by a bridge over the Vilaine, Messac provides a quiet and relaxing location to start to your trip.
Discover the local churches and the imposing Notre Dame du Bon Port chapel. Around Messac there are some lovely country tracks perfect for taking a walk along and discovering the natural beauty of the region. The town has tennis courts and a swimming pool for those feeling particularly active.
This was the also first potato-producing town in France, when in 1771 the priest, Vincent Cawiezel harvested the first crop from the rectory garden.
